The Pilot Record Database, or PRD, was created by the FAA to have a centralized location for all of Pilot’s records. The PRD will facilitate the sharing of pilot’s records with air carriers. This will replace the PRIA program and streamline the records request for operators. Once fully operational, operators will need to enter in all historical and future training records into the Pilot Record Database.
The PRD will be required for all Part 119 operators, fractional ownership programs, air tour operations in accordance with § 91.147, persons operating a corporate flight department under part 91 or part 125, and governmental entities conducting public aircraft operations. Each operator must submit an application for access to the PRD by September 8th, 2021 and designate a Responsible Person. Operators will need to enter new training records created after June 10th, 2022. Historical records from June 10th, 2022 to January 1st, 2015 will need to be entered by June 12th, 2023.
021 reviewing entities (operators review new employee pilots) will need to log into the PRD to evaluate FAA records. Starting June 2022, reviewing entities will need to use the PRD to review all other records. By June 2024 the PRIA program will no longer be used and all requests will be handled by the PRD.
